▣ Irony of Modern U.S. Life

posted by Richard Rife on May 8th, 2010 at 8:27 AM

For most of human history, people worked hard--morning, noon, and night--just to eek out a meager existence. Their work was physical in nature, requiring much energy. But the problem was trying to find enough calories to eat each day.

Now, however, I have the opposite problem--too much to eat and not enough physical work. And so, I count calories, trying to eat less than 2000 in every 24-hour period. And, I wear a pedometer on my belt, with the goal of walking 10,000 steps a day.

It's ironic.

Cenia Parsons says:

I hear you! It is sad that we cannot enjoy the good foods because we don't have to do the physical labor our ancestors did. Perhaps that is why they died young.
