Jonn Claybaugh is a friend of mine. He teaches institute at UVU and has been a mission president in Costa Rica. We served together when he was in the stake presidency at BYU and I was a BYU bishop. Our wives are friends and our kids' ages match up nicely.
One year after returning home from Costa Rica, Jonn was called as bishop of his home ward. He's been serving faithfully in that capacity ever since. I think he's now nearing the 6 year mark--or beyond.
In a recent email message, I asked Jonn if he were ever going to be released. I loved his response, because it is meaningful and well stated, and it shows why the Lord can trust him. Without Jonn's permission, I share his response with you.
"Our stake president has asked me a few times in the past year and a half if I'm doing OK. I have told him yes, and he says, 'Good, because I don't feel it's time to release you yet.' My feeling is that I must not only 'go where You want me to go, but also stay where You want me to stay.'"
Isn't that a beautiful thought? If we're willing to "go where You want me to go," we need to be equally as willing to "stay where You want me to stay."
That's a great spiritual thought for this Monday, January 18th.

Thanks for that thought. It fits me, as a 3rd RS Pres will be put in on Sunday, and I don't have any "feeling" of being released. I guess I'll "stay where you want me to stay". I liked that Rich. THANKS!
