This Thanksgiving was "Rife Off Year." What that means is that our married children went to their in-laws rather than to our home for Thanksgiving Day and Dinner.
Next year will be "Rife On Year."
We had a lovely Thanksgiving Day anyway. We ate Thanksgiving dinner with the Parsons. Janet contributed much to the meal, including ham, rolls, "Thanksgiving-style green beens, if you know what I mean, and berry pies. And the Parsons put on a beautiful Thanksgiving Day dinner and provided a delicious turkey, stuffing, potatoes and gravy, yams, salads, and desserts.

After dinner, we attended the new Disney "A Christmas Carol" starring Jim Carrey in 3D and loved it. After the movie, we returned to the Parsons' for dessert.
It was a good day, but I'd be disingenous if I didn't say that I prefer "Rife On Year." And so, I look forward to 2010 aka Rife On Year.
It's only fair that our children spend every other Thanksgiving with their in-laws. And we're happy that our daughters are well married. But, for mom and dad, Rife On Year is better, that's all there is to it.
Cenia Parsons says:
I fully understand the "on" and "off" years. We would love to have all our children around us on every holiday. We just have to learn to share. I think the on and off is more difficult when they all live within driving distance.
